Meet Elizabeth Fefer, Controller
Since joining Atlas in January 2020, Elizabeth Fefer has found something deeply meaningful in her role as Controller: trust.
From the beginning, she felt appreciated and empowered to bring her abilities to the work. That confidence has shaped the way she approaches each day.
“I have been given the opportunity to bring my abilities to the role,” Elizabeth says, “and this vote of confidence drives me to do my best work.”
While her role is rooted in finance, Elizabeth sees numbers as a tool for better decision-making. She shares key financial information with operations, looks for ways to improve efficiency and speaks up when she sees opportunities. That could mean anything from templatizing sales emails to adjusting how Atlas sells scrap metal.
What stands out to her is how welcome those ideas are.
“It’s very fluid here and very refreshing compared to other places I’ve worked,” she says.
Elizabeth has also found a strong sense of family at Atlas. In her own department, she credits Hortensia Leon and Alba Lopez with helping her feel supported and teaching her the personal history behind customer relationships.
“It’s incredible learning from them,” she says. “They have helped me understand what ‘Making Metal Personal’ truly means.”
That personal approach has changed the way Elizabeth sees her own work. Though she describes herself as “a numbers person on paper,” Atlas has empowered her to become more customer-oriented, too.
She has also gained a new appreciation for Atlas craftsmanship, especially after seeing the versatility of products like INFINITI FIT and other modular options.
For Elizabeth, Atlas’ strength comes from the people behind the work: employees who are trusted, respected and valued for both their skillsets and their well-being.
“We strive to manufacture superior products to earn our customers’ loyalty,” she says. “And that comes from trusting and believing in our incredible employees.”
After four years with Atlas, Elizabeth’s story is one of trust, contribution and connection — proof that even in a numbers-driven role, the most meaningful work is often personal.
