Thank you for choosing Atlas Metal. This refrigerated base unit care guide explains how to clean, operate and maintain your Atlas Metal equipment to support reliable performance and protect your warranty coverage.

Before First Use –

Before installing or operating your equipment, please read the service and installation manual completely. When receiving the unit, inspect the shipping crate and all components right away. If damage is visible or concealed, notify the carrier and request an inspection within 10 days of receipt. Be sure to save all crating materials until the inspection has been completed or waived.

The serial number and mo

del number can be found inside the compressor housing enclosure. Please have this information available when calling Atlas for parts or service.

Daily Cleaning Instructions

After use, clean pans and stainless steel surfaces with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap and residue, then dry completely before the unit is returned to service or stored.

To protect the stainless steel finish, do not use:

  • Chloride-based cleaners
  • All-purpose cleaners
  • Bleach
  • Acidic cleaners
  • Vinegar-based products
  • Steel wool
  • Abrasive pads or abrasive cleaning products

Improper cleaners can scar, mark or corrode pans and stainless steel surfaces. Failure to follow these cleaning instructions may void the warranty.

Operating Reminder

Your refrigerated base is ready to operate once it is plugged in and turned on. The thermostat includes an off position and settings from #1 through #7, with #7 being the coldest. The unit is factory-tested and set for proper operation between 35°F and 40°F.

Do not block the air discharge openings inside the base. Proper airflow is important for consistent cooling. Proper ventilation must also be provided in the counter.

The unit includes a timer that shuts the compressor off every four hours for approximately 15 minutes to help eliminate ice buildup on the evaporator coil.

Food product should be chilled to 33°F–35°F before being placed in the unit. For best performance, avoid excess air movement over food product and stir or rotate food product as needed.

Troubleshooting Reminder

If the unit will not run, first check that it is plugged in, that the receptacle has power and that the thermostat or switch is in the on position. The unit may also be in a defrost cycle; if supplied, wait approximately 20 minutes.

If the condenser runs but short cycles, check for a dirty condenser coil or inadequate ventilation.

If the condenser runs constantly, check for a dirty condenser coil, inadequate ventilation or whether the unit is installed in a hot location.

If food product is not cold enough, confirm that it was properly chilled before being placed in the unit, and check for air movement over the product or lack of stirring or rotation.

Sealant Maintenance

Depending on the unit’s environment, usage and maintenance, periodic review and reapplication of silicone around the wells may be recommended. This helps keep the unit properly sealed and helps prevent steam or moisture intrusion during use. Any sealant used should meet the requirements for the intended use zone and be permitted under NSF/ANSI 51.
